I am very sorry!

It has been so long since I have blogged on here, and I do apologize, if anyone really reads it anyway...

Since my last blog, my grandmother died after a long battle with Old Age, if you can call it that. We all got to be with her in her last week and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done! I watched my grandfather mourn the loss of his one and only love, and I hurt for him even still! On the bright side, he and my daughter have the most amazing bonds I have ever seen and I LOVE watching them interact.

I have also started my practicum at Woodmont Middle School, where I suffered for 3 years of my life. It is much better as an adult, I promise. I love it there, and I love the people I get to work with!

Alex has started T ball and he is precious playing! His first game is not until March 28, and I am so excited to see him in his uniform with all of his teammates. Ashlyn likes to watch him too, and Shawn is the perfect little league dad!!

I decided to join a gym this month since my children are now too old to blame my weight on them. I opted for the personal trainer addition, and somehow enjoyed getting my hiney kicked by a guy that is younger than me.
Along with my membership, I got 2 free visits with the chiropractor, who took x-rays, put me on a diet (similar to the one the trainer put me on), and adjusted my spine last night. It hurt like the dickens when he did it, but there was complete relief in my neck afterward. It was pretty neat, seeing as how I have never been to a chiropractor before.

So, here is a quick update, and I will try to update more regularly I promise! I miss the blogger world actually!

Created for a Place I've Never Known!

Created for a place I’ve never known!
WOW!
I heard that song today on the way to work and I have been singing it ever since.
By the way the song is by Switchfoot, "This is Home"
Have you ever thought about the phrase "Created for a place I've never known?"
It says it all. God created us for heaven to be with him eternally. He only put us here so that we could recruit for him. He ultimately created us so that we could live a perfect eternal destiny!
Wow!!!
If this is true, why do we put so much emphasis on what we are doing here on earth? Who cares if we are cool? (cause we all know I am not) Who cares how many people are our friends if we aren't leading them to our eternal destiny?
Why do we spend so much time and money on material things? Why do we care if we look the best, or have the most? I do think our body is a temple and we should take care of it, don't get me wrong there. But, all the extra money and time we put into that, we could be spending leading others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Why do we justify the things we do, because it isn't the worst thing we could be doing? Shouldn't we err on the side of righteousness instead of getting as close as we can to the sin without committing it?
God says don't be lukewarm! In Revelation 3:16, it says:
"So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."
Do we not get it? If we aren't on fire for God, he wants to spit us out!!! He would rather us not claim Him if we aren't willing to live for him!
I know I am not perfect, and I do lots of things to disappoint God, believe me! I just hope that I am investing in a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child! I also want to leave with my children that their mother loved God and believed He would provide!
He created us for a place we have never known! He didn't create us to have a good time in our earthly bodies..........let's think about it!
I ask if you read this, to hold me accountable to this truth! If it isn't going to further His kingdom, I would rather not be involved, and I hope I remember this.
God bless you and I hope you all have a great October!

Just an update!

It has been a while since I have updated my few friends, but here goes:

School stinks! I don't have to say anything else about that, but this semester has kicked my hiney! I can't wait for December.

Alex had his first soccer game on Saturday, and he did GREAT! If you don't know this about Alex, he is artistic, not athletic! He enjoys music, and when we go the high school football games, he gets excited at half time because he gets to watch the band! (And he gets a drink right after half time). A side note, he announced to Shawn a couple of weeks ago during the half time show that he had decided what he wanted to be when he grew up. When Shawn asked what, he said, "A Xylophone player." He is only 4 by the way.....

Anyway, the soccer game, he was timid at first, but really got into it after a while. He could turn the ball around and go in the opposite direction, and he scored a goal!! We were so proud of him! His book fair is this week and I have to find time to take him and get him and Ashlyn a book. I cannot make it to open house because I have class (and I have already told you how I feel about that right now).

I have been getting into our church wide Bible study lately and will have to update you on that another day! Have to go to work now, see ya!

He did great

Of course, Alex had a great first day!

Shawn delivered him a little before 8:00. Shawn works at the school next door so he is able to walk Alex to and from school. So far this has worked, se we are going to try it for a while. I left work at 2:10 to go get Alex. When I got there, the line was already into the road! So I waited with 50 other people. After that, we decided it would be best for Shawn to go get him a little before 2:30 and take him back to Ellen Woodside to wait for him to be done.

Like I said, we will try this and see how it goes, and we may have to make other adjustments, but for now, I don't want to wait in line and Shawn is already there, so....

As for the school day, Alex did not go to sleep at "rest time" so we had a long evening full of whining and crying. I guess being in a new place with new friends doesn't allow for sleep time :)
He said he had cheese sticks (entree), green beans (that didn't taste real good), and applesauce. I guess that is healthy?? He then had a snack of cookies and crackers (which is normal for us) and it was time to come home. He likes Mrs. Mary Jane, who is one of his teachers. He told me she was the boss of trouble (I did ask for clarification, and that means she puts the bad kids in time out)

As for Ashlyn, she was real excited yesterday that it was going to be the two of us, but this morning she cried because she wanted to sit in Daddy's lap some more...

Maybe we will get used to it soon!

The week before......

This is the week before my first baby goes to school for the first time. You know, most moms are anxious about their baby going to school, but I think I am anxious for different reasons.

Here are my thoughts and questions about Alex going to school:

1. Who will make his food and make sure he eats the healthy stuff first?

2. Will his friends think he is cool, or will they pick on him? :) (I was never cool, so I have no idea why I have this question)

3. Will the other children behave well enough for him not to have a meltdown? (He is a typical peer in a special education classroom, which means he is the role model)

4. He is a baby, will they let him cry or make him stop?

5. He will NOT get on that bus for transportation! (Unless it is a fieldtrip....and can't moms go?)

6. What will happen when he says the blessing loudly and slowly (because he and his sister have to say it together) before breakfast and lunch?

I had a lot more questions until this morning when I met with his teacher and the 2 aids that will be in his classroom. He will be in a class with 7 other boys, so here we go single gender classroom!

Being in the Guidance degree program, I may know too much about special ed for my child to be in the class, but hopefully he will become a well rounded, accepting little boy by being in the class. I just hope he becomes a better kid because of it! I am so excited! (and ready to only have one child at work with me)

I feel for the other moms that have been there before and will be there one day! Good Luck is all I can say!

Have a great first week at school!

Our Family

I am new at the blogging scene, but I was very interested in Sarah Ellen and Lindsay's blogs, so Thanks girls!! I really miss you two!

I figure my first blog will be telling you about us and where we are in life. Get ready though, your head might start spinning as mine does most days!!

Carrie- I am currently working for my dad while I finish school. I work most days from 7:30 to 4:00, and the childrn come to work with me. From there I leave and go straight to class anywhere from 2 to 4 times a week. I am in school for School counseling through Clemson, and I love it!! I take most of my classes in Greenville, but I do have to go to Clemson for some. I should graduate in May of 2010. I chose to go an extra semester so I could go ahead and get my Masters + 30 while I was there.

When I am not in school or at work, I am the Preschool Sunday School Director at our church. I love the kids and the teachers in the department! I am also on the leadership team for Upward sports at our church. This is a cool sports league where the kids learn about soccer, basketball, cheerleading, and football while learning about God! I have taken more of an administrative role this year though because my time is so limited. I am thankful that my husband and mother are so supportive of me and help out so much with the kids so I can go to class.

Shawn- Shawn is finishing his Masters degree in Administration this December. He has been working on it part time for several years now, so we will be so excited when he finishes!! He is a PE teacher at Ellen Woodside and is also on the administrative team there. He also still coaches basketball at Woodmont and loves it! I don't know if he will ever get an Assistant Principal job because he loves coaching that much!

When he is not at school or work, he is also on the leadership team for Upward and plays a more active part in that role. He also helps me out at work in the Summer and after school. Other than that, he helps out so much with the kids and is a terrific dad!

Alex - He starts school in 2 weeks! I am so excited and proud of him. He will be a peer mentor in a preschool special needs class. This means that he is in the classroom to be a role model to the other children in the class. I couldn't be a more proud mom! He is also going to be involved with his first organized sports experience this fall with Upward Soccer. His dad is a coach, but we aren't sure that he is going to be an athelete. He likes music and academic activities sometimes better than sports. But remember, he is 4, and who knows what will come of it?!

Ashlyn - She is a hoot! She thinks she is going to school and playing soccer this fall. I am not sure how she is going to react on Alex's first day! She thinks she is a princess, but she loves to play ball with her daddy in the yard! She is using the potty all the time now and she is saving us lots of money on diapers. I guess you would say she is just a well rounded child. She plays with babies and loves to wear dresses, but she loves to play outside and is a messy child!! I hope she keeps her personality forever because it is just plain cute!

I will try to keep up with my blog, but cannot make any promises! Here goes!
